As a state branch of the American Counseling Association, CCA is an organization which represents professional counselors, graduate students in professional counseling, and others in related fields. Founded in 1927, current members include those counselors who work in schools, colleges, health care, community agencies, business, industry, and private practice. CCA’s recent legislative efforts have led to licensure, vendorship and privileged communication for professional counselors in Connecticut.

CCA acts as a liaison between its members and the American Counseling Association, our parent organization. Together we promote the enhancement of human development throughout the lifespan of the individuals we serve, and the advancement of the counseling profession.

Membership in CCA provides a professional identity at the state level. CCA and its members promote professional growth and networking through its six divisions and one regional chapter. The unique needs of many counseling specialties are addressed and supported by CCA.

CCA is one of 56 state and international branches of the American Counseling Association. (ACA) ACA is a professional and educational organization with a membership of nearly 40,500 counselors and human development specialists in the United States and in over 50 other countries.
